Magmec Begins Deep ConneXion WaterTech Program as One of Seven Selected European Startups

Paris, France – 30th January, 2025

Magmec has officially begun participation in the competitive Deep ConneXion WaterTech Program, as one of only seven European startups selected. This five-month program, led by the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in partnership with WILCO, brings together innovative startups and key players in the water sector to develop industrial partnerships, and provide tailored mentorship.

The program focuses on tackling critical challenges in water purification, desalination, and by-products and waste management. Magmec’s selection highlights the potential of its low-carbon mineral extraction technology process, which transforms industrial brine into valuable metals like magnesium.

Through Deep ConneXion, Magmec will: form strategic industrial partnerships, gain tailored market insights with a focus on African markets, and access funding networks.

Magmec’s solution addresses the need for sustainable resource management by converting brine waste into critical materials, helping reduce the environmental impact of metal production and supporting circular economy practices.

About Magmec
Magmec produces low-carbon magnesium metal from coastal brine sources, including water desalination by-products, turning industrial waste into valuable materials and reducing reliance on traditional land-based mining.

About WILCO
WILCO has supported over 850 startups through its acceleration programs, which span across diverse sectors including industry, healthcare, and digital businesses.
