MAGMEC WORKS WITH COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES TO ADVANCE ITS SUSTAINABLE METAL EXTRACTION TECHNOLOGIES

Colorado, USA – 27th January, 2025

Magmec, a company focused on producing low-carbon magnesium metals from industrial brine, is excited to announce its collaboration with the prestigious Colorado School of Mines. This work will support the development of Magmec’s innovative brine to metal solution through a Senior Design Project at the university which will integrate advanced process design and lab experimentation.

This project aims to establish quantitative metrics to validate and scale Magmec’s proposed solution. Students from Colorado School of Mines will conduct a structured experimental programme, and evaluate key parameters to enhance extraction efficiency.

Yousef Gorji, Magmec’s Chief Executive Officer, added: “Collaborating with one of the world’s leading mining schools is an incredible opportunity to validate our approach and push forward our vision, by leveraging the scientific expertise of the students, faculty, and technical capabilities available at Mines, we are reinforcing our commitment to developing an economically viable and environmentally sustainable alternative to metal production that comes from a brine source. Thank you to Professor Brian Gorman, Anna Staerz and Jihye Kim for your support along the journey”

David Fourie, Magmec’s Chief Technology Officer, added: “Working with Colorado School of Mines is an exciting step toward advancing our process design and ensuring we meet the highest engineering standards. The practical application will provide valuable insights that bring us closer to scaling our technology for real-world deployment”

This underscores Magmec’s mission to decarbonise critical metal supply chains. The partnership will bring together academia and industry expertise to solve technical challenges and accelerate Magmec’s path toward its goal of establishing a commercial-scale facility.

About Magmec
